The singer was part of the first all-female team to travel into space on Blue Origin’s New Shepard tourist rocket. In addition to Katy Perry, the team was comprised of other incredible women who display an impressive level of professionalism and bravery. They include Ayesha Bove, an aerospace engineer who has participated in multiple space missions, Amanda Nguyen, a bioastronaut studying the conditions for human life outside of Earth, Gayle King, a television host and public figure, Kerryann Flynn, a producer, and Lauren Sanchez, a journalist and entrepreneur.

A moment that will go down in history
The flight lasted only 10 minutes, but it will be remembered for years to come. Three minutes after launch, the rocket undocked from the capsule, which reached an altitude of 100 km, the conventional limit between the Earth’s atmosphere and outer space. This was the 11th human flight for the New Shepard mission, but more importantly, it was the 31st flight in the mission’s history. It was the first all-female flight since the historic flight of Russian cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova in 1963.
